The KENNAMETAL 7093476 is a CNMG431 carbide turning insert designed for metal cutting applications on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a diamond (rhombic) 80-degree insert shape with an AlTiN coating and the KCU10B manufacturer grade, delivering high wear-resistance with moderate toughness across a range of workpiece materials. The neutral hand orientation and negative side clearance geometry are standard for CNMG-style inserts, providing stable, predictable cutting performance. With four usable cutting edges per insert, this carbide insert offers extended tooling life per piece. It is suited for roughing and medium machining operations.
This insert is intended for use in turning operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous and superalloy materials, as indicated by its P, M, K, N, and S workpiece material codes. It fits standard CNMG431 (ISO CNMG120404) toolholders with a corresponding pocket geometry. Machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments use this insert for general-purpose and roughing passes on a wide range of part materials. The 0.40 mm corner radius makes it appropriate for cuts where a small nose radius is required to maintain feature integrity.

Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. The machine spindle must be stopped and all axes locked before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer's specified clamping method — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure.
