The KENNAMETAL 7093351 is a CPGT-style carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Manufactured from carbide substrate in a diamond (80-degree included angle) shape with an AlTiN coating, it is engineered for the KCU10B grade classification, which targets interrupted cuts and general-purpose turning. The insert features a 0.008 inch corner radius, an 11-degree relief angle, and a HP chip breaker geometry. It carries a neutral hand orientation and delivers two usable cutting edges per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a direct toolholder replacement in standard CPGT-compatible boring and turning tool systems.
This insert is suited for light to medium turning applications where a sharp, tight corner radius and positive relief geometry are needed to control chip flow and minimize cutting forces. The AlTiN coating provides thermal resistance, making it appropriate for dry or minimal-lubrication cutting environments. The HP chip breaker geometry is designed for finishing and semi-finishing passes where predictable chip control is critical. The 3/32 inch insert thickness and compact 21505 size code make it compatible with smaller-bore turning and profiling applications common in precision machining shops.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for use in CPGT-compatible turning toolholders and boring bar systems accepting 21505 size code inserts with a 3/32 inch thickness.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate insert seating torx or hex key per the toolholder manufacturer specification to clamp the insert securely without over-torquing the clamp screw. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and repeatable tool-nose position.
