The KENNAMETAL 7093176 is a VBGT-style carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning and finishing operations on CNC and manual lathes. Built to grade KCU10B with an AlTiN coating, this insert delivers heat resistance and wear performance in demanding cutting applications. It features a diamond insert shape with a 35-degree included angle, a 5-degree relief angle, and a 0.004 inch (0.10 mm) corner radius suited for fine finishing passes. The LF chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation at light depths of cut. Machinists and CNC operators working in aerospace, medical, and general precision machining will find this insert well matched to tight-tolerance turning work on hardened and difficult-to-machine materials.
This insert is intended for use in light finishing and semi-finishing turning applications where minimal corner radius and a sharp cutting edge are required. The neutral hand orientation allows installation in standard VBGT-compatible toolholders. The 35-degree diamond geometry provides good access in tight profiling and contour turning situations. It is suitable for use on CNC turning centers and manual engine lathes performing external diameter turning, facing, and light profiling on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement turning insert for use in VBGT-compatible toolholders sized for an insert width of 0.1250 inches and thickness of 0.1250 inches with insert size code 2202.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly in the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using the correct torque key. Inspect the cutting edge and seating surface for chips or debris before clamping to ensure proper insert registration and avoid premature edge failure.
