The KENNAMETAL 7070649 is a solid carbide micro drill bit designed for high-precision drilling in demanding industrial applications. Measuring 1.60 mm (0.0630 inches) in diameter with a 139-degree drill point angle, this bit delivers accurate entry geometry for tight-tolerance holes. A multi-layer TiAlCrN, TiAlCrSiN, and TiSiN coating system provides heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting through hardened steels, stainless, and other difficult materials. The 57.00 mm overall length and 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard precision toolholders used in CNC machining centers and drill presses. Installation and setup are performed by machinists and toolroom technicians.
This bit is suited for precision drilling in aerospace, medical device, mold and die, and general metalworking operations where small-diameter, high-accuracy holes are required. The Kendrill series is engineered for deep-hole micro drilling, with a 7xD flute-to-diameter ratio supporting a maximum drilling depth of 11.50 mm. Coolant-through capability makes it appropriate for high-speed wet drilling cycles where chip evacuation and thermal management are critical. It is most commonly run in CNC machining centers with through-spindle coolant delivery.
Designed for use in CNC machining centers and precision drill presses equipped with standard straight-cylindrical 4.00 mm shank toolholders. Part of the Kendrill series for micro-diameter drilling applications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the 4.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank in a properly sized collet or chuck, ensuring full shank engagement to the specified depth before tightening. Verify spindle speed and feed rate settings match the workpiece material before initiating a drilling cycle. Engage coolant-through supply before the spindle contacts the workpiece to prevent thermal damage at the cutting edge.
