The KENNAMETAL 7030427 is a DFPR-series indexable insert drill body designed for general-purpose hole-making operations in machining environments. It accepts two DFPR-style indexable inserts and delivers a maximum drill diameter of 0.9144 inches with a maximum drill depth of 1.75 inches, giving a 2xD depth-to-diameter ratio. The tool is constructed from steel and features a 1.0000-inch Weldon Flat and Flange shank for secure tool holding. Coolant-through capability is supported via an axial concentric entry port with a 1/4-18 NPT coolant hole thread. This body is installed and serviced by machinists and CNC tooling technicians.
The 7030427 is suited for production drilling applications in job shops and manufacturing facilities running CNC machining centers or drill presses equipped with compatible Weldon Flat tool holders. Its right-hand cutting direction and general-purpose performance rating make it appropriate for a wide range of workpiece materials when paired with the correct insert grade. Compatible insert size codes are 070305 and 080304, covering both the inner and outer insert positions. The overall tool length of 4.6620 inches and flute length of 1.75 inches suit standard reach requirements in horizontal and vertical machining setups.
Compatible with DFPR-style indexable inserts in size codes 070305 and 080304. Specific compatible insert part numbers are DFPR070305__O (outer position) and DFPR080304__I (inner position). Designed for use in tool holders accepting a 1.0000-inch Weldon Flat and Flange shank interface.
Installation and insert changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable OSHA lockout/tagout procedures. Use the specified T8 Torx driver for the M2.5-0.45 insert lock screw and follow the insert manufacturer torque guidance for that fastener size. Verify coolant passages are clear before mounting the body in the spindle. Inspect the shank seating surface and Weldon flat set screw interface for wear before each use.
