The KENNAMETAL 7026559 is a VBMT331FP carbide turning insert with KCP25C grade, designed for precision finishing operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a V-shape diamond (rhombic) geometry with a 35-degree included angle and a 5-degree relief angle, delivering positive rake and positive side clearance for efficient chip formation. The insert is CVD-coated with a multilayer TiN/Al2O3/TiCN stack, providing moderate wear resistance and toughness across steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous workpiece materials. With a 0.0156-inch corner radius and a honed cutting edge, this insert is optimized for finishing passes where surface finish and dimensional accuracy matter. Licensed HVAC techs and machinists in production turning environments rely on this insert for consistent, repeatable results.
This insert is suited for steel and cast iron machining in finishing applications, including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring. The KCP25C grade targets steel (P-grade) workpieces requiring moderate wear resistance and toughness, as well as aluminum and non-ferrous (N-grade) materials. It fits screw-on toolholders configured for VBMT-style inserts. The 3/8-inch inscribed circle and 3/16-inch thickness make it compatible with standard VBMT toolholder pockets in general-purpose production and job-shop environments.
Designed as a screw-on replacement turning insert for VBMT-style toolholders. ANSI insert code VBMT331 and ISO insert code VBMT160404 (ISO code VBMT160404FP) identify compatible toolholder pockets. Meets ANSI and ISO standards for VBMT insert geometry.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the toolholder pocket and secure with the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using appropriate Torx or hex keys. Inspect the insert seating surface and pocket for chips or debris before installation to prevent rocking, which causes premature edge failure.
