Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 7026421 is a DNMG331MN KCP25C carbide turning insert designed for precision metal cutting in CNC turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. It features a diamond-shaped cutting geometry with a 55-degree included angle and a neutral hand orientation. The insert is CVD-coated with a multilayer TiN/Al2O3/TiCN coating under the KCP25C grade designation, optimized for cutting steel and cast iron. Four cutting edges are available per insert. Corner radius measures 0.0156 inches and insert thickness is 0.1875 inches. This insert is part of the KENLOC series and is held using a clamp and pin method.

This insert is suited for general-purpose turning applications on CNC lathes in production and job-shop environments. Primary workpiece materials are steel and cast iron, corresponding to ISO material codes P and K. The chamfered and honed cutting edge style with a negative rake angle and MN chip breaker geometry helps control chip flow across a broad range of depths of cut. Maximum depth of cut is 0.3049 inches. Typical users include CNC machinists and toolroom operators running production or maintenance turning work.

Key Features

  • CVD multilayer TiN/Al2O3/TiCN coating under KCP25C grade for steel and cast iron cutting
  • Diamond insert shape (55-degree included angle) for versatile turning, facing, and boring applications
  • Four cutting edges per insert for extended tool life per unit
  • MN chip breaker with chamfered and honed cutting edge for consistent chip control
  • Neutral hand orientation compatible with standard KENLOC clamp and pin toolholders
  • Negative rake, 0-degree clearance (N) geometry suitable for interrupted and continuous cuts

Compatibility

Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders that accept DNMG-style inserts with clamp and pin insert holding. Compatible with applications meeting ANSI and ISO standards for DNMG110404MN geometry. Primary workpiece compatibility includes steel (ISO P) and cast iron (ISO K).

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by CNC machinists or tool crib personnel. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the pocket locating surfaces before tightening the clamp to avoid micro-movement during cutting. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris prior to each insert index.
