The KENNAMETAL 7026404 is a CNMG542MN indexable carbide turning insert in the KCP25C grade, designed for general-purpose metal cutting on CNC and manual lathes. It features a multilayer CVD coating of TiCN and Al2O3 that improves wear resistance and thermal stability during continuous and interrupted cuts. The insert has a diamond shape (80-degree included angle), a neutral hand orientation, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge for controlled entry into the workpiece. With four usable cutting edges and a 1/32 inch corner radius, it delivers consistent performance across a range of roughing and semi-finishing operations on steel and cast iron. Licensed plumbers and toolroom machinists as well as CNC operators are the primary users.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel and cast iron workpieces in both production and job-shop environments. The KENLOC series designation indicates compatibility with KENNAMETAL KENLOC-style toolholders that accept CNMG geometry inserts secured by clamp and pin holding methods. The KCP25C grade is formulated for reliable cutting performance across a broad range of cutting conditions where consistent tool life and edge stability are required. Maximum depth of cut is 0.2113 inches, making it appropriate for moderate stock-removal passes.
Designed for use in KENNAMETAL KENLOC-series toolholders that accept CNMG-geometry inserts with clamp and pin holding. ISO code CNMG160608MN and industry standard number CNMG542MN apply. Primary workpiece materials are steel (ISO code P) and cast iron (ISO code K). Suitable for turning, facing, and boring applications per manufacturer data.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate KENNAMETAL KENLOC torx or hex key wrench to seat the clamp and pin securely before resuming cuts. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before placing a new edge. Follow shop safety protocols for handling carbide inserts, as edges are sharp and brittle.
