The KENNAMETAL 6781854 is a solid carbide jobber-length drill bit designed for high-performance hole-making in demanding materials. Built on the KCP15B carbide grade, it carries a multi-layer AlTiN and titanium nitride coating that extends tool life and supports elevated cutting speeds. The 140-degree split-point geometry reduces thrust force and improves centering without a pilot hole. At 3.58 inches overall length with a 2.09-inch flute, this bit handles depths up to 43.00 mm and is sized at 9/32 inch (0.2812 inch) diameter. Coolant-through capability makes it well suited for production environments. Licensed machinists, tool-and-die makers, and maintenance technicians working in metal fabrication, aerospace, and industrial applications are the primary users.
This drill is intended for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and production drilling fixtures where consistent hole quality and tool longevity matter. The straight cylindrical shank seats into standard chucks and collet holders without modification. The 5xD flute-to-diameter ratio handles chip evacuation in moderate-depth bores. It is well matched to ferrous alloys, stainless steels, cast iron, and high-temperature alloys where AlTiN coatings deliver their best performance. The right-hand cutting direction is standard for conventional spindle rotation on virtually all machine tools.
Designed as an OEM-style solid carbide jobber drill for use in CNC machining centers and drill presses accepting a straight cylindrical shank with an 8 mm shank diameter.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tool-room technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before loading or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Confirm the shank is fully seated and the holding device is torqued to equipment manufacturer specifications before spindle engagement. Activate coolant flow before beginning the cut when using the through-coolant feature.
