The KENNAMETAL 6781153 is a screw machine length drill bit designed for high-productivity drilling in steel and ferrous workpiece materials. Built from solid carbide grade KCP15B, it features a multilayer AlTiN and TiN coating that extends tool life and supports elevated cutting speeds. The 140-degree split point reduces thrust and promotes accurate hole entry without a center punch. With an overall length of 66.00 mm and a flute length of 28.00 mm, this stub-length geometry offers rigidity in short-reach setups. It is suited for use in CNC machining centers, drill presses, and automated screw machine applications where tight tolerances and consistent hole quality are required.
This drill bit is intended for drilling steel in production machining environments, both light manufacturing and heavy shop floor applications. The 3xD flute-to-diameter ratio and straight cylindrical shank make it compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems. The HPX series is engineered for applications where tool changes are frequent and cycle time matters. A maximum drilling depth of 20.00 mm keeps this bit in its optimal performance range for shallow-to-moderate depth holes in ferrous materials.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use drill bit for CNC and manual drilling equipment accepting a 6.00 mm straight cylindrical shank, compatible with the KENNAMETAL HPX series tooling platform in steel drilling applications.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Secure the shank fully in the chuck or collet before operation and verify runout is within acceptable limits for the application. Do not exceed the maximum recommended drilling depth of 20.00 mm per pass without withdrawing to clear chips, as this bit does not have coolant-through capability. Consult applicable shop safety standards and OSHA machine guarding requirements before operating rotating tooling.
