The KENNAMETAL 6771167 is a solid carbide replaceable drill tip designed for use with compatible KTFSS-series modular drill bodies. It carries the ISO designation KTFSS08750FEG and features a 0.8750-inch cutting diameter with a 180-degree flat point geometry. The tip is manufactured from fine-grain solid carbide in grade KCP15A and finished with an AlTiN coating applied via PVD process. This combination provides thermal resistance and edge stability at elevated cutting speeds. It is installed by machinists and tooling technicians on CNC machining centers and drilling operations requiring repeatable, interchangeable tip replacement without pulling the full drill body from setup.
This replaceable drill tip is suited for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and K. The FEG insert geometry and straight flute configuration support flat-bottom drilling, inclined entry and exit drilling, and counterboring applications. The ZA seat size matches the corresponding KTFSS-series drill body seat. The 2-flute, 4-margin design provides centering stability across these application types. It is a direct-replacement consumable for production machining environments where tip changeout speed and consistency are priorities.
Designed for use with KTFSS-series modular drill bodies using ZA seat size inserts. Compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, and cast iron (ISO material groups P, M, and K).
Installation and replacement of this drill tip should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and fully stopped. Use the appropriate torx or clamp key specified for the KTFSS drill body to seat the tip securely against the ZA insert pocket. Inspect the seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new tip. Follow the drill body manufacturer torque and clamping procedure documentation for the specific holder in use.
