The KENNAMETAL 6771166 is a replaceable drill tip designed for use in modular drilling systems that accept ZA-seat inserts. Made from solid carbide with a fine grain microstructure and PVD-applied AlTiN coating, this tip delivers the hardness and thermal resistance required when cutting steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The 22.00 mm cutting diameter and 180-degree flat point geometry make it well suited for flat-bottom drilling applications where a conventional pointed tip would leave an unfinished floor. Two straight flutes and a four-margin configuration support stable cutting action and dimensional accuracy across a range of hole depths. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments install this tip as part of the KTFSS series tooling platform.
This tip is applied in drilling operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron workpieces, covering ISO material groups P, M, and K. Its flat point geometry supports flat-bottom holes, inclined entry, inclined exit, and counterboring operations. The straight flute and straight spiral design suit short-chipping materials commonly found in general machining, automotive component production, and metalworking applications. No through-coolant is required, making it compatible with standard non-coolant-through toolholders in the KTFSS platform.
Designed for use with KTFSS series modular drill bodies that accept ZA-seat replaceable tips. Compatible with primary workpiece materials steel, stainless steel, and cast iron, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and K. No through-coolant supply is required from the toolholder.
Replaceable drill tip installation should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle locked out and all machine power isolated. Seat surfaces on both the tip and the drill body should be inspected and cleaned before seating the tip to ensure proper clamping and runout. Follow the drill body manufacturer torque and clamping guidelines for ZA-seat tips. Improper seating or contaminated mating surfaces can result in tip movement, poor hole quality, or premature insert failure.
