The KENNAMETAL 6771139 is a replaceable drill tip engineered for use in indexable drilling systems that accept KTFSS-series tip seats. Built from fine-grain solid carbide in grade KCP15A, this tip features a PVD-applied AlTiN coating that supports high-temperature cutting and resists wear against abrasive workpiece materials. The flat 180-degree point geometry produces a true flat-bottom hole, making it well suited for applications where point angle breakout and hole-bottom condition are critical. With a 16.50 mm cutting diameter and straight flute configuration, the tip is held in place by a clamp-style seat mechanism. Machinists and toolroom technicians install and index these tips at the machine without special equipment.
This tip is intended for drilling operations in steel, stainless steel, and cast iron — corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and K. Application coverage extends beyond straight drilling to include inclined entry, inclined exit, flat-bottom drilling, and counterboring. The straight spiral type and 2-flute, 4-margin geometry support stable cutting action across these varied entry and exit conditions. It is sized for an insert seat size U in KTFSS-series holders and carries the ISO designation KTFSS16500FEGM.
Designed for use with KTFSS-series indexable drill bodies that accept insert seat size U. ISO designation KTFSS16500FEGM identifies the correct seat and tip pairing. Verify holder series and seat size before ordering.
Tip indexing and replacement is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician at the machine. Power down the spindle and confirm the tool is fully stopped before accessing the tip seat. Use the correct Kennametal torque key or clamp wrench specified for the KTFSS holder to secure the tip — do not substitute unrated tools. Inspect the seating surface and clamp for chips or damage each time the tip is indexed to ensure accurate tip location and prevent premature failure.
