Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 5652249 is a solid carbide milling insert carrying manufacturer grade SP6519 and ANSI/ISO designation XDLT090412ERD411. It features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering heat and wear resistance suited to demanding milling operations. The insert is square in shape with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, 3/8 inch length and width, 0.1870 inch thickness, and a 3/64 inch (0.0470 inch decimal) corner radius. With four cutting edges, a positive rake geometry, and a 15-degree relief angle, it is engineered for productive material removal on difficult workpiece materials. Machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, production facilities, and aerospace environments install this insert as part of the XDLT series tooling system.

This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to material application codes P, M, and S. The right-hand cutting configuration and D411 chip breaker geometry make it well suited to face milling, shoulder milling, and high-feed applications where chip control and edge stability are critical. It is a single-sided insert held in place by a screw-clamp system and is compatible with the 7792VXD09 cutter series. Both ANSI and ISO standards are met, making it appropriate for programs specifying standardized tooling.

Key Features

  • Solid carbide substrate with TiAlN PVD coating for elevated-temperature wear resistance
  • Square XDLT insert geometry with 90-degree included angle and positive rake
  • Four usable cutting edges per insert for extended tooling economy
  • 3/64 inch corner radius (0.0470 inch) with honed cutting edge for edge integrity
  • D411 chip breaker geometry optimized for steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium
  • Screw-clamp holding method provides rigid, repeatable seating in the pocket

Compatibility

Compatible with the 7792VXD09 cutter series. Conforms to ANSI and ISO standard designation XDLT090412ERD411. Designed for use in right-hand insert pockets accepting XDLT series square inserts with a 3/8 inch inscribed circle.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified for the clamping screw to avoid stripping the pocket; follow the toolholder manufacturer torque guidance for the screw size. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surfaces for chips or debris before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and runout.
