The KENNAMETAL 4151647 is a stub-length (screw machine length) twist drill bit designed for precision hole-making in metalworking and machining applications. Built from solid carbide with a multilayer TiAlN coating, this bit delivers high heat resistance and extended tool life in demanding cutting operations. The 140-degree split point reduces thrust force and improves self-centering on entry. At 2.2835 inches overall length with a 0.6693-inch flute length, it is optimized for short, rigid setups in CNC machines, drill presses, and automatic screw machines. A tapered web configuration adds rigidity and chip evacuation efficiency throughout the cut.
This drill bit is suited for high-production machining environments where short tool projection and rigidity are critical. It performs in ferrous and non-ferrous metals, including steel alloys, cast iron, and aluminum, where TiAlN coatings are standard. Typical installations involve CNC machining centers, turret lathes, and automatic screw machines where close-tolerance hole diameter control is required. The straight-cylindrical shank at 4.00 mm (0.1575 inches) fits standard collets and drill chucks common in precision machine tool setups. Maximum drilling depth is rated at 12.00 mm (0.4724 inches), consistent with the 3xD flute-by-diameter ratio of the B041A-CPG series.
Part of the KENNAMETAL B041A-CPG series, designed for use in standard straight-shank collet chucks and drill chucks accepting a 4.00 mm shank diameter. Dimensioned to DIN 6537K specification.
Installation and tool changes must be performed with the machine fully powered down and spindle locked. Ensure the collet or chuck is clean and free of chips before seating the shank. Solid carbide tooling is brittle — avoid side-loading or using in hand-held drilling equipment. Verify runout with an indicator after installation; excessive runout accelerates premature tool failure in tight-tolerance applications.
