The KENNAMETAL 3899198 is a solid carbide corner radius end mill designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining environments. It features a 3/4 inch diameter, a 0.03 inch corner radius, and five flutes with a high-helix spiral geometry that promotes efficient chip evacuation and smooth cutting action. The AlTiN (aluminum titanium nitride) PVD coating delivers elevated heat resistance and extended tool life when cutting hard, abrasive workpiece materials. With a 1-5/8 inch length of cut and 4 inch overall length, this single-end tool is built for both roughing and finishing operations on CNC machining centers and milling machines.
This end mill is intended for use in steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials, making it a versatile choice for job shops, aerospace, automotive, and general metalworking applications. The straight-cylindrical shank with a 3/4 inch diameter is compatible with HC-HSK Form A toolholders, the Hydraulic Chuck Standard Line Inch KM63XMZ, and HC-CV Form AD toolholding systems. Right-hand flute direction and right-hand cutting direction are standard. It is suited to production machining environments where consistent tolerances and finish quality are required.
Compatible toolholding systems listed by the manufacturer include HC-HSK Form A, Hydraulic Chuck Standard Line Inch KM63XMZ, and HC-CV Form AD. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials (ISO material codes P, M, K, S, H). Part of the KENNAMETAL UCDE series.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before tool changes. Verify toolholder runout is within acceptable limits before engaging the workpiece, as excessive runout will accelerate edge wear on a five-flute tool. Consult the machining center manufacturer and KENNAMETAL cutting data recommendations for appropriate speeds, feeds, and depth-of-cut parameters for the specific workpiece material.
