The KENNAMETAL 1937618 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a TD6P1 insert style in a 60-degree triangular shape with a KC5010 manufacturer grade, a micrograin carbide substrate, and a PVD-applied titanium nitride (TiN) coating. The 0.375-inch inscribed circle and 0.127-inch thickness place this insert in the standard small-bore category. The 1/64-inch (0.015-inch) corner radius supports finishing and semi-finishing passes where tight tolerances and surface finish quality are required. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in job shops, aerospace, and general metalworking facilities are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for light-to-moderate material removal in boring applications on ferrous and non-ferrous metals. The TiN coating improves wear resistance and extends tool life on materials where abrasion and built-up edge are common concerns. The 11-degree relief angle provides clearance geometry appropriate for internal diameter operations. It is typically loaded into a compatible TD6P-style boring bar holder with the correct pocket geometry for a 60-degree triangular insert at the specified inscribed circle diameter.
Designed for use in TD6P-style boring bar holders that accept a 60-degree triangular insert with a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, 1/8-inch nominal thickness, and 11-degree relief angle.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before seating or indexing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified fastener when securing the insert clamp or screw to avoid cracking the carbide substrate. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before inserting a new insert, and confirm proper seating before resuming cutting operations.
