The KANTECH US T.REX-XL2-NL is a request-to-exit (REX) detector combining a piezo sounder, a programmable timer, and dual relay outputs in a white housing. REX detectors are passive infrared devices mounted above or beside a door to signal an access control panel when a person approaches to exit a secured area. The integrated piezo provides audible feedback, while the timer controls relay hold time after detection. This unit ships individually and is installed by licensed security, low-voltage, or access control technicians as part of a complete door access control system.
The T.REX-XL2-NL is suited for interior door applications in commercial and institutional buildings where controlled egress is required. Typical installations include office suites, server rooms, healthcare facilities, and other secured interior doors. The dual relay outputs allow simultaneous control of a door strike or magnetic lock along with an auxiliary device such as an alarm panel input or door position monitor. The white finish is appropriate for standard interior drop-ceiling and drywall environments.
Designed as an OEM-style request-to-exit detector for use with commercial access control panels that accept dry-contact relay inputs for door strike or magnetic lock control.
Installation should be performed by a licensed low-voltage or access control technician in accordance with local codes and NEC Article 725 for Class 2 wiring. Power down the access control panel and disconnect the door hardware circuit before wiring relay outputs. Mount the detector above the door per the manufacturer's template to ensure the detection zone covers the full egress path. Do not mount in locations exposed to direct sunlight or strong drafts, as these conditions can cause false triggers on passive infrared devices.
