The ISCAR 6495311 is a solid carbide face grooving tool designed for internal grooving operations on bored or turned features. It cuts a 2 mm (0.0787 inch) wide groove and accepts a 7 mm (approximately 0.275 inch, nominal 1/4 inch) shank. Overall length is 45 mm (2.5 inches). The solid carbide construction delivers the rigidity and wear resistance required for consistent groove geometry in ferrous and non-ferrous materials. This tool is installed by machinists and CNC lathe operators performing precision internal face grooving where groove width accuracy and shank concentricity are critical to part conformance.
This face grooving tool is suited for internal face grooving applications on CNC turning centers and manual lathes. It handles minimum hole diameters of 8 mm (0.198 inch) and reaches a maximum hole depth of 30 mm (0.500 inch). The 30 mm projection supports reach into confined bore geometries. Typical applications include grooving retaining ring seats, O-ring channels, and stepped bore features in production and job-shop turning environments.
Designed as an OEM-style face grooving tool for use in CNC turning centers and manual lathes accepting a 7 mm or nominal 1/4 inch round shank toolholder.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and all axis drives are disabled before changing tooling. Secure the shank in a compatible toolholder to the holder manufacturer torque specification using proper hex keys. Verify tool projection and runout with a dial indicator before initiating a cut, and confirm groove width with a calibrated gauge after the first pass.
