The ISCAR 6482877 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the XNUW insert style with a size code of 2006, this insert features a 0.807-inch cutting width and a 0.250-inch cutting height, making it well suited for moderate-depth grooving passes. The uncoated IC08 grade is a fine-grained solid carbide formulation optimized for non-ferrous metal cutting, delivering sharp edges and consistent chip control without a coating that could build up on softer workpiece materials. A positive rake angle of 7 degrees reduces cutting forces and heat generation. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert as a direct replacement in compatible V-Lock toolholders.
This insert is intended for grooving and recessing operations on non-ferrous metals such as aluminum, brass, copper, and similar materials in both production and job-shop turning environments. Its neutral hand orientation means it can be used in standard straight-grooving applications without left- or right-hand bias. The V-Lock series interface provides secure seating and repeatable indexing in compatible toolholders. The insert is a multi-use tool, meaning a single insert geometry handles multiple grooving tasks without requiring a dedicated holder for each pass. Insert replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a full stop and lockout-tagout procedures in place. Use the appropriate torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert clamp — do not overtighten, as this can chip the carbide substrate. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert. Handle solid carbide inserts with care; edges are brittle and can fracture if dropped or struck.
