The ISCAR 6450137 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Top Grip series, designed for precision grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Identified by insert style TGMF and size code 635080, it delivers a cutting width of 0.250 inches (6.35 mm) and a maximum depth of cut of 0.1496 inches (3.80 mm). The insert carries an IC830 grade designation and features a PVD-applied AlTiN and TiN coating for extended tool life in demanding cutting environments. The double-end configuration allows both ends to be used before the insert is retired, improving cost-per-edge economics. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert using a clamp-style holding method.
This insert is engineered primarily for grooving superalloys and titanium alloys, material codes S and M per ISO classification, as well as general steel applications under material code P. It is suited for finish grooving passes where consistent width and depth control are critical, such as O-ring grooves, retaining ring grooves, and precision undercuts on aerospace or high-performance industrial components. The F chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip formation in these materials. The insert conforms to ISO 13399 standards for tooling data representation, making it compatible with CAM software and digital tool libraries.

This insert is installed and replaced by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully against the toolholder pocket before tightening the clamp to manufacturer-specified torque using the appropriate torx or hex key. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips or wear before seating a new insert to avoid premature edge failure.
