The ISCAR 6450040 is a double-ended cermet grooving insert in the TGMF302F IC20N grade, designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. Running uncoated in the IC20N cermet grade, this insert delivers consistent edge sharpness and wear resistance suited for finishing cuts on steel and stainless steel workpieces. The cutting width is 3.00 mm (0.1181 inches), the maximum depth of cut is 10.50 mm (0.4134 inches), and the corner radius is 0.20 mm (0.0079 inches). The F chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip evacuation at moderate feed rates. The double-end configuration extends usable insert life before replacement is required.
This insert is intended for use in ISO Top Grip toolholders and clamp-style grooving systems. It is suited for production turning environments where tight groove tolerances and smooth surface finish on steel and stainless steel parts are required. Insert size code 302 fits the corresponding Top Grip series blades designed for that size range. The neutral hand orientation makes it compatible with standard radial grooving setups. Machinists and toolroom technicians working with P and M ISO material group workpieces will find this insert appropriate for light to moderate stock removal in groove finishing passes.
Designed for use with ISCAR Top Grip series clamp-style grooving blades and toolholders accepting TGMF insert size 302. Compatible with ISO material groups P (steel) and M (stainless steel) workpieces per ISO 13399.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine spindle locked and all power sources de-energized per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Ensure the insert pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before seating the insert. Verify clamp torque against the toolholder manufacturer specifications for the Top Grip system in use. Do not exceed the recommended maximum depth of cut for the insert size when programming groove cycles.
