The ISCAR 6450016 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying the TGMF635080F designation in the IC20 uncoated grade. Designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers, this double-ended insert delivers a 0.25 inch (6.35 mm) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 0.1496 inch (3.80 mm). The IC20 grade is an uncoated carbide suited for materials spanning the universal workpiece spectrum, including steel, cast iron, stainless, non-ferrous, and heat-resistant alloys. The F-style chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation across a range of feed rates. Installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert fits toolholders and blade systems in the Top-Grip series and is appropriate for grooving and profiling operations on both light-duty and medium-duty turning applications. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to standard right-hand and straight-cut setups. The double-ended design allows the insert to be indexed to a fresh cutting edge, extending tool life per insert consumed. Primary workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, and S indicate suitability for hardened materials, cast iron, stainless and high-alloy steels, non-ferrous metals, and heat-resistant superalloys respectively.
Designed for use with Top-Grip series toolholders and blade systems that accept TGMF-style inserts with a 635-080 size code. Verify that the toolholder pocket is matched to the TGMF insert style and 635080 seat dimensions before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is de-energized before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert firmly in the pocket and confirm the clamping screw torque is within the toolholder manufacturer specifications. Inspect the insert pocket for wear or debris that could affect seating and dimensional accuracy before each use.
