The ISCAR 6412069 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the ISO designation INR2031L IC907 and features a TiAlN and TiN PVD coating applied over a submicron carbide substrate. The IC907 grade is engineered for universal workpiece material compatibility, covering steel, stainless, cast iron, high-temperature alloys, and non-ferrous materials. With a positive rake angle of 3 degrees and a corner radius of 0.78 mm (0.0307 inches), this insert delivers clean groove geometry with controlled chip flow. It is sized to the 2031 insert standard and belongs to the Notch-Grip series for secure, repeatable seating in compatible toolholders.
This insert is configured for left-hand cutting orientation and is suited for external grooving, recessing, and face grooving operations in both production and job-shop turning environments. The universal primary workpiece material classification (ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S) makes it a practical stock item for shops working across a broad range of materials. Maximum depth of cut is 0.110 inches (2.79 mm). The overall insert length is 0.514 inches. It is typically installed by CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals on toolholders designed for the Notch-Grip system.
Designed for use with Notch-Grip series toolholders compatible with the INR 2031 insert seat. Suitable for ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S as indicated by the universal primary workpiece material classification. Refer to the ISO designation INR2031L IC907 when cross-referencing with ISCAR toolholder catalogs.
Insert replacement should be performed with the machine in a full stop, lockout/tagout condition applied, and all axis motion disabled. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert clamp — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping components for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Verify left-hand orientation matches the programmed toolpath direction before resuming cutting operations.
