The ISCAR 6410067 is a solid carbide cutoff and grooving insert carrying the manufacturer part designation SCIR22-080NP00 in the Swisscut series. It is designed for grooving, parting, and turning operations on CNC lathes and Swiss-type screw machines. The insert features a 0.8 mm (0.0315 inch) cutting width, a neutral lead angle, and a right-hand orientation. The IC1008 grade substrate is finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating, providing wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. A screw-clamping holding method keeps the insert seated securely under the lateral forces typical of parting and deep-groove operations. Machinists and CNC tool setters working in production turning environments are the primary installers.
This insert is suited for grooving, parting, and light turning on a wide range of materials, classified under ISO workpiece material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. The Swisscut series is engineered for Swiss-type automatic lathes and small-diameter precision turning centers where minimal cutting width and tight tolerances are critical. The P chipbreaker geometry controls chip flow in these confined cutting environments. The insert accommodates a maximum depth of cut of 2.50 mm (0.0984 inch), making it appropriate for shallow-to-moderate groove depths common in precision part production.
Designed for use in Swisscut series toolholders that accept the SCIR 22 insert style. Fits screw-clamp insert seats sized for a 22 mm overall length, 7.00 mm cutting height, and 3.00 mm overall width insert body. Installation should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tool setter with the machine powered down and all axes at a safe position. Use the specified torx or hex key recommended by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the clamping screw to the correct feel — do not overtighten, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and susceptible to cracking under excessive clamp force. Inspect the insert pocket for chips, debris, or wear before seating a new insert. Verify insert orientation and chipbreaker direction against the toolholder specification sheet before returning the machine to service.
