The ISCAR 6410053 is a solid carbide cutoff insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations in CNC Swiss-type turning applications. Part of the Swisscut series, this right-hand insert carries a 60-degree lead angle and a 0.5mm cutting width, making it suited for tight-tolerance groove work on small-diameter workpieces. The IC1008 grade substrate is finished with a PVD-applied TiAlN/TiN coating, which improves wear resistance and extends tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The 0.1mm corner radius supports clean entry and controlled chip flow during cutoff passes. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production turning environments are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, N, P, and S. That range spans hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, non-ferrous alloys, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. It is built for Swiss-type sliding-headstock lathes and similar small-part turning machines where axial cutoff inserts are required. Maximum depth of cut is 3.0mm (0.118 inches), keeping it in the range appropriate for small-bar and Swiss-format work. Installation of this insert should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any insert. Use the correct torx or clamping key specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert — do not overtighten with improvised tools. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or damage before installing a new insert to ensure proper seating and accurate cutting geometry.
