The ISCAR 6410051 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and turning operations on Swiss-type lathes and similar small-part machining equipment. Built to SCIR22 geometry with an IC1008 manufacturer grade, this insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN and TiN coating stack that delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. The cutting width is 1.00 mm with a maximum depth of cut of 3.00 mm, making it well suited for fine, controlled groove profiles. The positive rake geometry at 12 degrees promotes clean chip formation and reduces cutting forces on slender workpieces typical in Swiss-style turning. Installation is by screw clamp, keeping the insert securely registered in the pocket under high-speed conditions.
This insert is intended for use in Swisscut series toolholders designed for the SCIR22 insert style. It targets universal primary workpiece materials, with material grade coverage of C1, C2, C3, C5, and C6, and ISO workpiece material codes H, K, M, N, P, and S. That breadth makes it appropriate for carbon steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, high-temperature alloys, and hardened materials. It is a single-end insert sold individually, with a minimum order quantity of 5 pieces. It is a multi-use tool compatible with the corresponding Swisscut series toolholder platform.

This insert is installed and removed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate torx or hex key for the screw-clamp system. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper torque retention and edge alignment. Follow the toolholder manufacturer's recommended clamping procedure for Swisscut series holders.
