The ISCAR 6405479 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision parting and grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Manufactured to the ING insert style in size code 3062, this insert carries the IC808 grade with a PVD-applied AlTiN, TiAlN, and TiN multilayer coating for extended tool life under high cutting temperatures. It features a left-hand orientation, a 1.57 mm cutting width, and a maximum depth of cut of 2.39 mm. The fine-grained carbide substrate paired with a positive rake angle of 10 degrees supports clean chip formation across a broad range of workpiece materials. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians on production and job-shop lathes.
The 6405479 belongs to the Notch-Grip series and is suited for grooving, parting, and face grooving applications in both light-production and high-volume turning environments. Its universal primary workpiece material classification covers steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nonferrous alloys, and heat-resistant superalloys, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, S, and H. The double-end design extends usable insert life. Overall length is 22.86 mm with an overall width of 4.95 mm, making it compatible with standard Notch-Grip toolholders designed for the 3062 insert size.
Designed for use with ISCAR Notch-Grip series toolholders accepting the ING 3062 insert size. Compatible workpiece material groups include ISO P, M, K, S, and H, covering steel, stainless steel, cast iron, nonferrous metals, and heat-resistant superalloys.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate Notch-Grip insert key or clamping tool to seat the insert fully and securely in the toolholder pocket. Inspect the pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and prevent premature edge failure.
