The ISCAR 6405390 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Notch-Grip series, designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert carries ISCAR grade IC808 with a PVD-applied AlTiN, TiAlN, and TiN multilayer coating for extended wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. It delivers a 0.125 inch cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 0.15 inches and features a positive rake angle of 3 degrees for reduced cutting forces. This is a double-ended insert, making it a cost-effective tooling choice for production turning environments. Installation and setup are handled by machinists and CNC operators using a clamp-style insert holding method.
This insert is suited for universal workpiece material applications and is compatible with a wide range of workpiece material groups including ISO material codes H, K, M, P, and S. Typical applications include grooving, undercutting, and parting on medium to high production turning operations in both job shop and production floor environments. The Notch-Grip series is designed for use with compatible Notch-Grip toolholders and grooving systems that accept the ING 3125 insert style. The double-ended configuration extends insert life by providing two cutting edges per insert.
Designed for use with Notch-Grip series toolholders and grooving systems that accept the ING insert style in size 3125. Compatible with universal workpiece materials across ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate clamp key or torx driver as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the insert. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping mechanism for wear or debris before installing a new insert. Never exceed the maximum depth of cut specification for the insert grade and coating selected.
