The ISCAR 6405148 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Cut-Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the GIPI330010P designation with an IC830 manufacturer grade and a PVD-applied AlTiN and TiN coating finish. The insert has a cutting width of 0.13 inches (3.30 mm), an overall length of 0.618 inches (15.70 mm), and a corner radius of 0.0039 inches (0.10 mm). The positive rake angle of 8 degrees and P chip breaker geometry support chip control in demanding applications. Machining professionals and CNC operators handling superalloy and titanium workpieces are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert is suited for grooving, undercutting, and parting on superalloy and titanium components, as well as general steel workpieces. Its neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable across standard grooving toolholders compatible with the Cut-Grip system. The double-ended design extends usable insert life, making it a practical choice for production turning environments where cycle efficiency and tool economy matter. It is appropriate for both light-duty finishing and moderate-stock-removal grooving passes on precision turned parts.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard grooving insert for Cut-Grip series toolholders accepting GIPI-style inserts with a 330010 size code. Primary workpiece material codes M, P, and S indicate suitability for steel, stainless steel, and superalloy or titanium materials per ISO material classification.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the toolholder secured in the turret before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate clamp and torque tool as specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for chips or debris before seating to ensure proper contact and prevent insert rocking.
