The ISCAR 6405141 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Cut-Grip series, designed for precise external grooving and cutoff operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the IC830 grade with a PVD-applied AlTiN and TiN coating, which provides thermal resistance and edge wear protection during interrupted cuts and high-heat applications. The insert delivers an 8 mm cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 4.8 mm. The GIMF808F geometry features a positive 7-degree rake angle and an F-style chip breaker that promotes controlled chip flow. This insert is installed by machinists and CNC turning technicians working in precision component manufacturing environments.
This insert is engineered for grooving and parting operations on superalloy and titanium workpieces, material classifications corresponding to ISO material codes M, P, and S. The positive rake geometry and PVD coating make it well suited for the elevated cutting temperatures and work-hardening tendencies common in these materials. It fits standard Cut-Grip toolholders that accept the 808 insert size, making it a practical single-end insert for high-precision grooving passes in aerospace, medical, and energy sector component work.
Designed for use in Cut-Grip series toolholders accepting the 808 insert size. Primary workpiece materials are superalloys and titanium (ISO material codes M, P, and S). Replaces or is referenced as MSC/Manufacturer Number GIMF 808.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct clamp and torque driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert. Inspect the pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure.
