The ISCAR 6405075 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Cut-Grip series, designed for precision external and internal grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the GIMF808F geometry with IC808 grade carbide, this insert features a PVD-applied AlTiN/TiAlN/TiN multilayer coating that supports high cutting speeds and extended tool life across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert delivers an 8 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 4.8 mm, making it well suited for medium-width grooving, parting, and profiling applications where dimensional consistency is critical. Installation requires a compatible Cut-Grip clamp-style toolholder.
This insert is rated for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. That range spans hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and heat-resistant superalloys. It is a single-end insert with a positive rake angle of 7 degrees and an F chip breaker geometry, which promotes efficient chip evacuation during grooving cycles. Typical applications include OD grooving, face grooving, and light parting on production turning equipment in job shop and high-volume manufacturing environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as a direct replacement in Cut-Grip compatible tooling systems.
Designed for use with ISCAR Cut-Grip series clamp-style grooving toolholders that accept the GIMF 808 insert size. Compatible across ISO workpiece material groups H, K, M, P, and S as specified by the manufacturer.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully into the Cut-Grip pocket and verify the clamp applies even holding force before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the recommended depth-of-cut range of 4.00 to 5.00 mm to avoid insert fracture or premature edge wear.
