The ISCAR 6404325 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the manufacturer grade IC8250 with an Al2O3 PVD coating, this insert delivers wear resistance suited for stainless steel and general steel workpieces. The neutral hand orientation and full-radius geometry provide consistent chip formation across a 6 mm cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 3 mm. The double-end configuration extends usable tool life by offering two cutting edges per insert. Machinists and CNC operators install this insert into compatible Cut-Grip style toolholders as part of a clamped insert system.
This insert is intended for grooving and parting operations in production and job-shop turning environments, both light-production and medium-volume runs. The IC8250 grade with Al2O3 finish targets primary workpiece materials classified under ISO material groups M (stainless steel) and P (steel). The GIF insert style, double-end design, and 7-degree positive rake angle make it well suited for applications demanding clean groove walls and controlled chip evacuation. The Cut-Grip series clamp-style holding method ensures secure seating during interrupted or continuous cuts at moderate to high surface speeds.
Designed for use with ISCAR Cut-Grip series clamping toolholders that accept GIF-style inserts with an insert size code of 600E300. Compatible primary workpiece materials are stainless steel (ISO group M) and steel (ISO group P) per the manufacturer designation GIF 6.00E-3.00.
Insert installation and replacement should be performed by a qualified CNC machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and spindle fully stopped before accessing the turret or toolholder. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp screws specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely against the pocket. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination can affect seating accuracy and surface finish. Follow shop safety procedures and applicable OSHA machine-guarding standards when changing inserts on live tooling stations.
