The ISCAR 6404238 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the GDMW24W insert style with an IC254 manufacturer grade, this double-ended insert features a PVD-applied TiN coating and a positive 7-degree rake angle that promotes clean chip evacuation and reduced cutting forces. It holds a cutting width of 2.4 mm and a maximum depth of cut of 18 mm, making it well suited for medium-depth grooving passes. The self-grip holding method provides secure, repeatable seating without additional clamping hardware. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians are the primary installers and users of this insert.

This insert is part of the Cut-Grip series and is engineered for grooving applications in metalworking environments, including turning of steel, stainless steel, and other materials where TiN-coated carbide grades perform effectively. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard straight-grooving setups. Installation Notes
