The ISCAR 6404225 is a chamfering boring bar designed for tight-bore machining operations requiring precision and wear resistance. Built from submicron solid carbide in the IC908 grade, this right-hand cut tool delivers consistent performance in demanding interior chamfering applications. The bar carries a TiAlN coating for heat and oxidation resistance at elevated cutting speeds. With a minimum bore diameter of 0.0394 inches and a 60-degree bar end angle, it is well suited for small-bore chamfering where tool clearance and edge geometry are critical to finish quality.
This boring bar is intended for use on CNC lathes and boring machines in precision machining environments, including toolrooms, production shops, and aerospace or medical component manufacturing. The right-hand cutting direction and compact shank make it applicable in Swiss-style and small-bore turning setups where access is restricted and dimensional accuracy requirements are tight. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary end users.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct-use boring bar for small-bore chamfering applications on CNC lathes and boring machines accepting a 5 mm shank diameter.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out per applicable safety procedures. Secure the shank in the tool holder to the manufacturer-specified clamping torque for the holder in use - do not rely on estimated values. Verify bore clearance and tool overhang before engaging the cut to avoid deflection or chatter. Inspect the cutting edge for coating integrity before each use.
