The ISCAR 6404114 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying the manufacturer grade IC808 and insert style designation GIP247020P. It delivers a 2.47 mm (0.0972 inch) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 5.00 mm (0.1970 inch) for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a PVD-applied multi-layer coating of AlTiN, TiAlN, and TiN, which provides thermal resistance and wear protection across a broad range of workpiece materials. A positive rake angle of 7 degrees and a corner radius of 0.20 mm (0.0079 inch) support clean chip formation and dimensional accuracy. The double-end design extends usable tool life per insert.
This insert belongs to ISCARs Cut-Grip series and is rated for universal workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. That range makes it suitable for turning steel, stainless steel, cast iron, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys in production and job-shop environments. The P chip breaker geometry is suited for finish to medium grooving passes. The insert seats via clamp-style holding, compatible with Cut-Grip toolholders designed for the GIP 2.47-0.20 insert seat. It is sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 10 units.
Designed for use in ISCARs Cut-Grip series clamping toolholders configured for the GIP 2.47-0.20 insert seat. Compliant with ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. The machine spindle must be stopped and all axis motion confirmed stationary before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer — do not over-torque the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and repeatable tool geometry.
