The ISCAR 6404113 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying the manufacturer grade IC808 and insert style designation GIP270010P. It is designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a 2.7 mm (0.1063 inch) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 13 mm (0.512 inch), making it well suited for medium-depth grooving on a wide range of workpiece materials. A PVD-applied multi-layer coating combining AlTiN, TiAlN, and TiN provides heat resistance and wear protection across demanding cutting conditions. The double-ended geometry extends usable tool life per insert. Licensed machinists and CNC turning operators are the primary installers of this insert.
This insert belongs to the Cut-Grip series and is classified for universal primary workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. That range spans hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, general steels, and heat-resistant superalloys, making the insert applicable across job shop and production turning environments. Typical applications include groove-turning, undercut machining, and parting on both small-batch and high-volume runs. The insert seats in a clamp-style holder designed for the Cut-Grip system.
Designed for use with ISCAR Cut-Grip series clamp-style grooving toolholders that accept GIP-style inserts with a 270010 size code. Conforms to ISO 13399 tooling data standards.
Installation is performed by a qualified CNC machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing the insert. Use the correct clamping screw torque as specified by the toolholder manufacturer for the Cut-Grip system — do not exceed the holder's rated clamp force. Inspect the insert seat and clamp for chips or debris before securing the insert to ensure proper seating and prevent premature edge failure.
