The ISCAR 6404108 is a solid carbide grooving insert in the Cut-Grip series, designed for high-performance grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. It carries the IC808 grade designation, a submicron carbide substrate with a PVD-applied AlTiN, TiAlN, and Titanium Nitride multilayer coating. The insert features a 3 mm cutting width, a maximum depth of cut of 13 mm, and a positive rake geometry with a 7-degree rake angle. The self-grip holding method eliminates the need for a clamping screw, reducing setup time. This insert is sold individually but must be ordered in multiples of 10.
The GIP300E020P IC808 is suited for grooving, recessing, and cutoff applications across a broad range of workpiece materials. The IC808 grade is rated for universal application and carries ISO material codes H, K, M, P, and S, covering hardened materials, cast iron, stainless steel, carbon steel, and heat-resistant superalloys. It fits self-gripping Cut-Grip style toolholders and blade systems designed for the GIP insert style. Typical use cases include precision external grooving and parting in production turning environments, both light-duty and moderate-duty cuts.
Designed for use with Cut-Grip series toolholders and blade bodies that accept the GIP insert style with a 300E020 size code. Compatible workpiece material codes include H, K, M, P, and S per ISO designation. ISO code for this insert is GIP 3.00E-0.20 per ISO 13399 standards.
This insert is installed by a machinist or CNC turning specialist. Before indexing or replacing the insert, disengage the spindle and confirm the machine is in a safe, locked-out state per your facility lockout/tagout procedure. The self-grip design seats the insert by pressing it firmly into the matching blade pocket — inspect the pocket for wear or debris before seating. Use only toolholder bodies rated for the GIP insert style and the corresponding size code to ensure proper clamping force and insert retention.
