The ISCAR 6403996 is a solid carbide boring bar designed for small-diameter internal turning and boring operations on CNC lathes and machining centers. Built from submicron-grade carbide in manufacturer grade IC908, it delivers wear resistance and edge stability in demanding cutting conditions. The TiAlN and TiN finish coating improves heat resistance and extends tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. With a minimum bore diameter of 0.236 inches and an overall length of 1.4567 inches, this bar is suited to tight-tolerance, small-bore applications where rigidity and precision are critical. Right-hand cutting direction and a 0.002-inch corner radius complete the geometry. It weighs 0.05 pounds.
This boring bar is used in precision machining environments where small internal diameters must be held to close tolerances. Typical applications include finish boring of hydraulic valve bodies, small bores in pump housings, medical components, and instrumentation parts. The 6-millimeter shank diameter fits standard ER and collet-style boring heads designed for that shank size. Machinists working in job shops, aerospace, or precision manufacturing will find this bar appropriate for fine finishing passes at shallow-to-moderate bore depths up to 0.827 inches.
Designed for use with boring heads and toolholders accepting a 6-millimeter shank diameter in standard collet or cartridge-style setups for internal turning operations.
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a safe, locked-out state per applicable shop safety procedures. Ensure the shank is properly clamped and seated to the correct overhang length to minimize deflection at depth. Do not exceed the tool's rated bore depth, and verify runout after mounting before taking finishing cuts.
