The ISCAR 6403923 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying manufacturer grade IC528 and designed for precision grooving operations in demanding machining environments. Part of the ChamGroove series, this single-end insert measures 0.125 inches (3.18 mm) in cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 0.050 inches (1.27 mm). A PVD-applied TiCN and TiN dual-layer coating provides wear resistance and thermal stability when cutting superalloys and titanium. The insert is held in place by a screw-clamp method and features a 0.008-inch (0.20 mm) corner radius for controlled edge geometry. Machinists and toolroom technicians working in aerospace and high-temperature-alloy applications typically specify this insert.
This insert is suited for grooving operations on superalloys and titanium workpieces, corresponding to ISO material codes M, P, and S. Its ChamGroove series designation indicates compatibility with ISCAR ChamGroove toolholders designed to accept the GIQR insert style. Typical applications include external grooving and parting on CNC turning centers in production and job-shop environments where tight groove widths and accurate depth control are required. The multi-use design allows the insert to serve across varied grooving tasks within its depth-of-cut range.
Designed for use with ISCAR ChamGroove series toolholders that accept the GIQR insert style (GIQR 11-3.18-0.20). Intended for machining primary workpiece materials classified as superalloys and titanium (ISO material codes M, P, and S).
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and de-energize the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified procedure without over-torquing. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and repeatability.
