It carries the GIQR insert style designation and is manufactured in ISCAR grade IC528, a PVD-coated carbide grade featuring a TiCN and TiN finish applied through a physical vapor deposition process. The insert delivers a cutting width of 0.118 inches and a maximum depth of cut of 0.03 inches, making it well suited for fine, shallow grooving passes. It is a single-end, right-hand insert held in place by a clamp-style toolholder. The overall insert length is 0.575 inches. This insert is part of the ChamGroove series and is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in precision turning environments.
This insert is engineered for grooving superalloys and titanium as its primary workpiece materials, aligning with ISO material codes M, P, and S. It is applicable in production and job-shop turning applications where tight groove geometry and surface finish are required on difficult-to-machine materials. Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine powered down and in a safe lockout state before changing inserts. Use appropriate torx or hex keys as specified by the toolholder manufacturer when seating the clamp; do not overtighten the clamping screw. Inspect the insert pocket and clamp for wear or debris before seating the new insert. Confirm correct insert orientation and hand designation match the toolholder before resuming cutting operations.
