The ISCAR 6403812 is a solid carbide boring bar designed for precision internal boring operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built from solid carbide with a TiAlN finish coating and manufactured to ISCAR grade IC908, this bar delivers the hardness and thermal resistance needed for tight-tolerance bore work. It accepts a minimum bore diameter of 0.1575 inches (4.00 mm) and reaches a maximum bore depth of 0.3543 inches (9.00 mm), making it well suited for small-diameter internal features. The overall length is 0.9449 inches (24.00 mm) with a 4.00 mm shank diameter. Right-hand cutting direction. Installed by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This boring bar is intended for small-bore internal turning applications where dimensional accuracy and surface finish are critical. The IC908 carbide grade is appropriate for machining steel, stainless steel, and other ferrous materials at moderate to high cutting speeds. Its compact geometry targets bores where clearance is limited and standard insert-style boring bars cannot reach. Typical use cases include precision component manufacturing, mold work, and close-tolerance fixture boring on CNC turning equipment.
Designed as an OEM-specification solid carbide boring bar for use in CNC lathes and turning centers accepting a 4.00 mm shank diameter toolholder with right-hand boring bar seats.
Installation and setup should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is securely clamped before inserting or removing the boring bar. Confirm shank seating depth and runout with a dial indicator before cutting. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque recommendations for clamping screws and refer to ISCAR cutting data for appropriate speeds and feeds for the IC908 grade.
