The ISCAR 6403372 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying the GEMI3002M designation and IC908 manufacturer grade. It belongs to the Cut-Grip series and is designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a TiAlN PVD coating applied over a solid carbide substrate, providing thermal and wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. Cutting width is 3.00 mm (0.1181 inches) with a maximum depth of cut of 1.30 mm (0.0512 inches). The corner radius measures 0.20 mm (0.0079 inches) and the rake angle is 8 degrees positive. The M chip breaker geometry is suited for medium machining conditions.
This insert is intended for use in metal-cutting turning applications where precise groove width and controlled chip evacuation are required. The IC908 grade with TiAlN coating covers universal primary workpiece materials including steels, stainless steels, cast irons, non-ferrous alloys, and high-temperature alloys, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, K, H, and S. It is installed by machinists and CNC turning technicians on toolholders within the Cut-Grip system. The double-end configuration allows the insert to be indexed for additional cutting edges before replacement, reducing tooling cost per groove.
Designed for use with ISCAR Cut-Grip series toolholders that accept GEMI-style grooving inserts. Compatible with ISO material grade classifications C1, C2, C6, and C7, and ISO workpiece material groups H, K, M, P, and S.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Before replacing the insert, the machine spindle must be fully stopped and the turret locked out per shop lockout/tagout procedures. Seat the insert fully into the Cut-Grip toolholder pocket and verify the clamping mechanism engages without rocking. Inspect the pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new insert to avoid seating errors that affect groove width accuracy.
