The ISCAR 6403370 is a solid carbide grooving insert from the Cut-Grip series, designed for precision grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the IC528 manufacturer grade with a PVD-applied TiCN and TiN coating, this double-ended insert delivers a 2.5 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 9 mm. The positive rake geometry at 8 degrees reduces cutting forces and heat buildup, making it well suited for demanding workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC turning technicians install this insert as a direct replacement in compatible Cut-Grip toolholders.
This insert is intended for grooving and parting applications in industrial turning environments, both production-floor and job-shop settings. Its primary workpiece material ratings cover superalloys, titanium, and steel, corresponding to ISO material codes M, P, and S. The neutral hand orientation and clamp-style holding method suit a wide range of standard Cut-Grip system toolholders. The double-ended design provides two cutting edges per insert, reducing per-edge tooling cost in high-volume grooving operations.
Designed for use in ISCAR Cut-Grip series clamping toolholders that accept the GEPI insert style with size code 250010. Rated for maximum depth of cut range of 5 mm to 10 mm (0.3000 to 1.0000 inches). Compatible with workpiece materials classified under ISO codes M, P, and S, including superalloys, titanium, and steel.
Insert installation and indexing should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a full stop, lockout/tagout state. Use the appropriate clamp key or torx wrench specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely — do not overtighten the clamp screw. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating each new edge. Verify insert orientation and edge engagement before resuming cutting operations.
