The ISCAR 6403199 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying the GEPI239015 insert style designation and IC908 manufacturer grade. It features a PVD-applied TiAlN coating and a neutral hand orientation, making it suitable for grooving operations where a centered, non-handed approach is required. The cutting width measures 2.39 mm (0.0941 inches) with a maximum depth of cut of 1.00 mm (0.0394 inches) and a corner radius of 0.15 mm (0.0059 inches). The insert geometry includes a positive rake angle of 8 degrees. Machining professionals and CNC lathe operators install this insert into compatible Cut-Grip toolholders for precise grooving work.
This insert is designed for use in the ISCAR Cut-Grip series tooling system, a platform widely used in production turning environments. It is suited for grooving and parting operations on a broad range of workpiece materials classified under material grades C1, C2, C6, and C7, with a primary workpiece material code covering H, K, M, P, and S material families. The double-end configuration extends usable insert life. Typical applications include external grooving on CNC turning centers in both job shop and production settings where consistent groove width and surface finish are required.
Designed for use with ISCAR Cut-Grip series toolholders that accept GEPI-style inserts with a 239015 insert size code. Conforms to ISO 13399 standards. Compatible with workpiece materials across H, K, M, P, and S ISO material classification groups.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the toolholder is secured before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate ISCAR torx or clamping key specified for the Cut-Grip toolholder to achieve proper clamping force — do not overtighten by feel alone. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before installation to ensure full seating and accurate cutting geometry.
