The ISCAR 6403137 is a solid carbide grooving insert from the Cut-Grip series, designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC turning centers and lathes. It carries the GIP239120 form factor with a 2.39 mm (0.0941 inch) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 4.70 mm. The IC908 grade features a PVD-applied TiAlN coating that delivers wear resistance and thermal stability across a broad range of workpiece materials. The insert has a positive rake angle of 7 degrees and a full corner radius, making it well suited for clean, repeatable groove profiles. Installed by machinists and CNC operators, this insert drops into compatible Cut-Grip toolholders without additional modification.
This insert is intended for use on metalcutting lathes and turning machines in both job shop and production environments. It supports universal workpiece material compatibility, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S, which span hardened steels, cast irons, stainless steels, general steels, and high-temperature alloys. The neutral hand orientation and double-end geometry allow flexible positioning in the toolholder. Typical applications include groove turning, face grooving setups, and parting operations where consistent width and depth control are required.
Designed for use with ISCAR Cut-Grip series toolholders accepting GIP-style inserts with the 239120 size code. Verify toolholder seat geometry and clamping style before installation. No additional compatible model numbers were specified in the product data.
Insert seating and clamping should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Use the manufacturer-recommended torque wrench and insert key to secure the clamping screw without over-torquing the seat. Inspect the toolholder pocket for chips, debris, or wear before seating a new insert. Always confirm insert orientation and hand before resuming cutting operations.
