The ISCAR 6403052 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving operations in demanding machining environments. Carrying the GFQR12100005 insert style designation and IC528 manufacturer grade, this insert features a TiCN and TiN PVD coating that provides wear resistance and surface hardness suited for cutting superalloys and titanium. It delivers a 1.00 mm cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 1.50 mm and a corner radius of 0.05 mm. The right-hand configuration and single-end design make it a straightforward drop-in for compatible ChamGroove toolholders. This insert belongs to ISCAR's ChamGroove series, engineered for grooving and parting operations on materials classified under ISO material codes M, P, and S, which correspond to stainless steels, carbon and alloy steels, and superalloys including titanium. Designed for use in ISCAR ChamGroove series toolholders that accept the GFQR insert style in size 12100005. Compatible primary workpiece materials include superalloys, titanium, stainless steels, and carbon and alloy steels per ISO material codes M, P, and S.
Installation is performed by a machinist or CNC toolroom technician following standard insert-change procedures. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the turret locked before changing inserts. Secure the insert using the specified clamp or screw holding method to the torque recommended by the toolholder manufacturer. Inspect the seating pocket for chips or debris before seating the new insert to ensure accurate positioning and prevent premature edge failure.
