The ISCAR 6402790 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying the GIPI400040P designation and IC908 manufacturer grade. It is designed for external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, a 4.00 mm cutting width, and a maximum depth of cut of 2.00 mm. The neutral hand orientation and double-end configuration make it suitable for a range of grooving setups. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this insert as part of the Cut-Grip tooling system.
This insert is intended for use in the Cut-Grip series tooling system across a broad range of workpiece materials. The primary workpiece material classification is Universal, covering ISO material groups H, K, M, P, and S. Typical applications include grooving, undercutting, and light parting on ferrous and non-ferrous materials in production turning environments. The positive rake angle of 8 degrees and the P chip breaker geometry support controlled chip evacuation during continuous or interrupted cuts at moderate feed rates.
Designed for use with ISCAR Cut-Grip series toolholders that accept the GIPI insert style. Compatible with ISO material grade classifications C1, C2, C6, and C7 workpiece materials.
This insert is installed and indexed by qualified CNC machinists or tooling technicians. Before changing inserts, ensure the machine is powered down, the spindle is locked, and all moving components are fully stopped. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamping hardware specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut rating for the insert grade and chip breaker combination in use.
