The ISCAR 6402646 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations in demanding machining environments. Cataloged under the ChamGroove series, this single-end insert carries the GIQR11300R150 geometry with a manufacturer grade of IC528. It features a PVD-applied TiCN and TiN coating for extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The insert delivers a 3.00 mm cutting width with a maximum depth of cut of 2.30 mm and a full corner radius of 1.50 mm. Screw-clamped into compatible toolholders, it is suited for CNC turning centers operated by machinists and tooling technicians working in precision manufacturing.
This insert is rated for primary use on superalloys and titanium, making it well-suited for aerospace, medical, and energy-sector turning applications where difficult-to-machine materials are common. The IC528 grade with PVD coating is specifically engineered to maintain edge integrity under the high heat and work-hardening conditions typical of titanium and nickel-based superalloy cuts. It is also compatible with workpiece material codes M and P, extending its usefulness to stainless steel and general steel applications on production turning lines.
Designed for use with compatible ChamGroove series screw-clamp toolholders accepting GIQR-style inserts in size 11300R150. Primary workpiece materials are superalloys and titanium (ISO material codes M, P, and S). Confirm toolholder compatibility against ISCAR ChamGroove system specifications before installation.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine powered down and the spindle locked before insert exchange. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to seat the clamping screw; do not overtighten beyond the toolholder specification. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or contamination before seating the new insert. Verify insert orientation and hand designation against the toolholder before resuming operation.
