The ISCAR 6402645 is a solid carbide grooving insert carrying the manufacturer designation GIQR110302 in grade IC528. It is designed for right-hand grooving operations with a 3.00 mm (0.1181 inch) cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 1.20 mm (0.0472 inch). The insert belongs to the ChamGroove series and features a PVD-applied TiCN and TiN multilayer coating that improves wear resistance and edge life in demanding cutting applications. With a corner radius of 0.20 mm (0.0079 inch) and an overall length of 10.68 mm (0.4205 inch), it is suited to precision grooving where tight dimensional control is required. Licensed machinists and CNC programmers working in job shops or production environments are the primary installers.
This insert is intended for grooving superalloys and titanium as its primary workpiece materials, corresponding to ISO material codes M, P, and S. The ChamGroove series targets applications where consistent groove geometry and surface finish are critical, such as sealing groove profiles and precision part features. The single-end insert design is optimized for dedicated grooving tool holders in the ChamGroove system. It conforms to ISO 13399 standards, making it compatible with digital tool management and presetter workflows in modern CNC operations.
Designed for use in ISCAR ChamGroove series right-hand grooving tool holders that accept the GIQR insert style with insert size code 110302. Compatible with material grades C5 and C6 classifications per standard tooling grade designation.
Grooving inserts of this type are installed and changed by qualified machinists or CNC tool setters. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing any cutting insert. Use the correct torque wrench and clamping screw specified by the tool holder manufacturer — do not overtighten, as solid carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under improper clamping loads. Verify insert seating and orientation against the tool holder documentation before resuming cuts.
